REPORTS TO: Thrift Store Manager
PAY RANGE: $23.00 - $25.00/hour

Summary/Objective
The Thrift Store Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Life Center Thrift Store, including staff and volunteer supervision; customer care; daily cash handling procedures; attaining sales goals and revenues; and visual merchandising. This position will work closely with the Thrift Store Manager who will provide financial oversight and high-level management.

Supervisory Responsibility
Oversees volunteers and staff working directly for the Thrift Store.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, trains, develops, schedules, and oversees volunteers.

  • Implements written procedures for store operations, including opening, and closing the store; procedures for accepting, sorting, pricing donations; security procedures for staff and volunteers, handling of cash, and other relevant procedures as needed.

  • Oversees the processing of donated items; manages the rotation of items and the disposal of donated items in a timely fashion.

  • Maintains supply inventories.

  • Works with Manager regarding monthly budget.

  • Ensures that all sales transactions (cash, checks, credit cards) are handled properly and in line with Life Center’s cash handling procedures and credit card compliance standards (PCI DSS compliance).

  • Provides ongoing financial reporting to the COO regarding sales progress.

  • Identify maintenance problems at the store and communicate needs to the COO and/or the Building Operations staff.

  • Conduct daily safety inspections of the store before opening to make sure floors are free of potential hazards. Support volunteers and staff on the sales floor with customer conflicts, pricing issues, etc.

  • Develops and implements marketing campaigns for the store that will directly influence sales, donations, and volunteer morale. Implement daily, weekly, and monthly store promotions.

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to retail businesses.

  • Responsible for observing safety and security procedures as applicable and reporting potentially unsafe conditions to COO.

  • Other reasonable duties as requested and assigned.

Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure

  • Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

  • Two years of practical experience in relevant field.

  • Local travel may be required occasionally for All Staff Meetings.

Hours and Schedule
Part Time: 20-29 hours per week, which includes:

  • Hours to be determined by manager upon start during Tuesday – Saturday store hours.

  • Requires occasional evening and weekend work pertaining to store’s needs and events as scheduled in advance.

  • Attendance at the following staff meetings is required for this role: Annual Reset, Annual Meeting, All Staff Trainings, recurring meetings as required, and additional meetings as requested.
