LIBRARY TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT
TITLE: Library Technology Instructional Assistant
STAFF LEVEL: Support Staff
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
STATUS: Part-time, 10 month
Overall Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Library-Media Center Assistant is to assist the Media Specialist in all aspects of library and technology circulation. This position requires the applicant to perform the circulation functions of the library such as checking materials in and out; shelving and storing assets; and cleaning, repairing, and maintaining the library collection and technology assets. This position may require supervision of small groups of students for short durations of time in the absence of the Media Specialist.
Principle Responsibilities
Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, and truthfulness
Assist in minor on-site device repairs and facilitating off-site repairs
Trouble shooting employee and student devices
Assist teachers and students with basic hardware and software needs
Assist students and staff individually or in small groups with research, computer troubleshooting, and book selection
Perform all steps in the circulation process for library and technology materials
Assist with annual inventory procedures
Prepare overdue notices
Assist with the repair and mending of library books and materials
Guide volunteers in their designated tasks
Monitor appropriate student conduct standards in Library Media Center and the Innovation Lab both in the presence and absence of the library media specialist
Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign
Ability to keep records and prepare reports using computerized systems
Ability to work with students and demonstrate our core values

Certifications and Licensure
First Aid/CPR Certification

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; crouch; stoop; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Safely handle typical chemicals used to clean and sanitize in a commercial setting.
Travel
Other than travel to and from the worksite, it is not anticipated except as may be necessary to attend offsite training or conference.

Hours
Work hours are 20-29 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined with supervisor. Hours per week during the school day of 7:45am – 4:15pm.
