TITLE: Extended Care Staff
STAFF LEVEL: Support Staff
CLASSIFICATION:  Part Time/Non-Exempt
STATUS: Part Time/Temporary

 

Overall Responsibilities
The following expectations and job description are the minimal expectation for Extended Care Staff at Life Christian Academy. The primary role of Extended Care Staff is to supervise and serve in the Extended Care program which includes Before and After School Care and Extended Care. Summer Camp is an additional temporary assignment to this Extended Care role. As part of this staff, your responsibility is to allow each student to know and love Jesus Christ through ethics, respect, academics, and programs.

 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, and truthfulness

  • Create a fun and safe atmosphere during times with children

  • Assist program lead as needed

  • Communicate well with lead and director about any issues or needs with children

  • Model Biblical principles in making choices to impact students

  • Faithfully support Life Center Church and its ministries

  • Complete paperwork including records of attendance and end of year debriefing evaluation forms

  • In relating with students, the staff are expected to:

    • Establish a climate of love and care, define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior

    • Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate correcting, counseling, and role modeling,

    • Maintain recess and lunch discipline, taking care of minor problems personally and referring major problems to the lead or program director

  • In professional growth staff are expected to:

    • Respectfully submit and be loyal to the constituted authority of the school, take responsibility for all tasks related to the classroom, parent communication, and the broader school community,

    • Work constructively with colleagues and administration by the contribution of ideas and listening

    • Observe Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution, avoiding a negative, critical spirit, and taking problems to administrator if necessary

    • Maintain STARS, Merit, and professional development programs

    • Attend and participate in staff devotions, church sponsored functions, and other meetings and activities as assigned

  • In Community relations staff are expected to:

    • Participate actively in the community, especially in the church community

    • Model love for Christ and students beyond the school day and campus

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Certifications and Licensure

  • First Aid/CPR

  • Current DCYF and MERIT Certifications required

Supervisory Responsibility 
This position does not have supervisory responsibility. 

 

Physical Demands 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required on a regular basis to stand; walk; crouch; stoop; sit (including siting on the floor); use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Safely handle typical chemicals used to clean and sanitize in a commercial setting.

 

Travel 
Other than travel to and from the worksite, it is not anticipated except as may be necessary to attend offsite training or conference.

Hours:  Less than 20 hours per week with the exception of the summer season where scheduled hours may be slightly more than 20 hours per week. The addition of the temporary Summer Camp role does not classify this position as 12 month as the temporary position is less than 6 months long as stated in the Life Center Employee Handbook.

 

Benefits:  Paid sick leave in accordance with the Life Center Employee Handbook of Policies, Practices, and Procedures.

 

Compensation
$16.28 per hour.
