Overall Responsibilities
The following expectations and job description are the minimal expectation for teachers at Life Christian Academy. The primary role of a teacher at Life Christian Academy is to teach students to know and love Jesus Christ through ethics, respect, academics, and programs.
Principle Responsibilities
Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, and truthfulness
Model Biblical principles in making choices to impact students
Adherence to the faculty and staff professional dress code as determined by the school administration
Actively supervise students in Chapel to ensure attention and engagement and assist maintain a positive culture
Enforce all school policies and processes, including dress policy, mobile phone policy, behavior expectations
Attend morning staff devotions at 7:50am to 8:05am
Articulate in writing and speaking how the teacher’s Christian faith integrates with his or her teaching
Instructional planning, translate the school’s student outcomes into specific objectives
Select and use curricular materials that will help students achieve these outcomes
Practice integration in unit planning and teaching, both biblically and across subjects
Plan and use a variety of teaching strategies to match the learning styles of the students
Select in advance the means of assessment to measure students’ learning
Facilitate class participation in benchmark testing and/or use the data from the tests to modify instruction based on need
Use class time well with activities that engage students’ attention and demonstrate a clear purpose
Give clear directions and well-organized examples and explanations
Be available to any parent or student who wishes to have a conference
Participate in school scheduled parent/teacher conferences
Provide tutorials for students before and after school as needed.
Use questions and explanations that promote clear thinking
Compose a working syllabus and scope and sequence for each class subject and make professional adjustments as necessary to meet the needs of individual learners
Complete paperwork including: academic progress reports, report cards four times per year, complete inventories of classroom equipment/supplies/books, records of attendance, administration of achievement tests, end of year debriefing evaluation forms
Provide families with a comprehensive classroom supplies list for the following year before summer vacation
Complete summer reading tasks as assigned
Knowledge of researched best practices to support student achievement
Contribute to student events – organization, administration, and supervision
Maintain teacher homework page in the LCA website (or similar) as determined from year to year
In relating with students, the teacher is expected to:
Establish a climate of love and care, define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior
Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate correcting, counseling, and role modeling,
Maintain proper classroom discipline, taking care of minor problems personally and referring major problems to the principal
Contribute to a positive and enjoyable working environment
Meeting regularly with assigned mentor teacher
Other duties as assigned

Observe the Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution, avoiding a negative, critical spirit, and taking problems to administrator if necessary
Attend and participate in staff devotions, student chapels, teacher’s meetings, staff/student retreats, church sponsored functions, and other meetings and activities as assigned
Participate in Professional Learning Community efforts
Serve on academic committees and teams
In Community relations the teacher is expected to:
Participate actively in the community, especially in the church community
Model love for Christ and students beyond the school day and campus
Reflect a positive view of Life Center/Life Christian in interaction with the local community, social media, etc.
Contribute to a positive and enjoyable working environment
Be proficient with Word, Excel, and ability to become proficient with relevant software applications
Certifications and Licensure
First Aid/CPR
Valid Driver’s license
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
Washington State Teacher Certification preferred (or demonstrated ability to attain within 2 years of commencement)
Classroom experience preferred (beginning teachers are encouraged to apply)
Basic computer skills and ability to learn to use and teach use of adaptive software

This role must maintain all minimum certifications and may be required to attend relevant trainings as determined by the Supervisor, Head of School, or HR Managing Director.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands and Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is required to talk or hear and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls including excessive keyboarding or typing. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to climb stairs, and stoop, kneels, crouch, or crawl stand, walk, and reach with hands or arms. Good health, and good physical condition, appropriate to the position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision; depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to read small print.

Travel is not expected as part of this position.

Hours
Monday through Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm. Staff meetings until 4:15pm.

Compensation
$39,878 – 64,780 annually depending on qualifications and education
