TITLE: Extended Care Staff

STAFF LEVEL: Support Staff

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

 

Overall Responsibilities:

The following expectations and job description are the minimal expectation for after school care staff at Life Christian Academy. The primary role of after school staff is to supervise children and serve in various programs to allow each student to know and love Jesus Christ through ethics, respect, academics and programs.

Qualifications:

·       Demonstrates a passion for Christian education

 

Essential Functions & Principal Responsibilities:

·       Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness and truthfulness

·       Assist program lead as needed

·       Supervise children during after school care

·       Create fun and safe atmosphere during times with children

·       Communicate well with lead and director about any issues or needs with children

·       Model Biblical principles in making choices to impact students

·       Faithfully support Life Center Church and its ministries

·       Complete paperwork including: records of attendance, end of year debriefing evaluation forms

·       In relating with students, the staff expected to: 

o   Establish a climate of love and care, define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior

o   Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate correcting, counseling and role modeling, 

o   Maintain recess and lunch discipline, taking care of minor problems personally and referring major problems to the principal

·       In professional growth the staff is expect to: 

o   Respectfully submit and be loyal to the constituted authority of the school

o   Work constructively with colleagues and administration by contribution ideas and listening 

o   Observe Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution, avoiding a negative, critical spirit, and taking problems to administrator if necessary

o   Maintain STARS, Merit and professional development programs

o   Attend and participate in staff devotions, student chapels, teacher’s meetings, staff/student retreats, church sponsored functions, and other meetings and activities as assigned

·       In Community relations the teacher is expected to:

o   Participate actively in the community, especially in the church community

o   Model love for Christ and students beyond the school day and campus

·       Other duties as assigned

 

Required Education and Experience 

·       Demonstrates a passion for Christian education 

·       High School Diploma or equivalent 

·       Experience and education in Early Childhood Education per state requirements

·       Professing Christian 

·       Passion for working with children 

·       Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness and truthfulness 

·       Able to articulate a personal philosophy of Christian education  

·       Model Biblical principles in making choices to impact students

·       Cultural Awareness 

·       Relationship Management 

 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position does not have supervisory responsibility. 

 

Continuing Education Requirement 

This position must maintain minimum state requirements. Additionally, this position may be required to engage in workshops or conferences to stay abreast of early childhood education philosophy and will participate in staff trainings when offered.  

 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required on a regular basis to stand; walk; crouch; stoop; sit (including siting on the floor); use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Safely handle typical chemicals used to clean and sanitize in a commercial setting.  

 

Travel 

Other than travel to and from the worksite, it is not anticipated except as may be necessary to attend offsite training or conference.
